Tokyo Manga Ban Now In Effect

Weeaboo and media hype. Any mention of a new law on the censorship or anything that can be misconceived as censorship usually get's blowed up to something else. Australia has a new law that bans small tit porn, got blowed up to be a total ban on all porn.. they just banned lolicon.. the law does also can be use on anything similar to loli or cp... like small breasted teen porn too.

The law is only for Tokyo prefecture and everywhere else just uses the japanese federal laws on whatever. Kind of like in some us states where certain videos
*cough cough* Bondage, gonzo and hardcore are banned. Strange fact of state vs national laws: California is the only state or even place in the world where eating a horse is a crime and banned.. also you can't buy beer over 3% alcohol in Utah nor buy liquor on a sunday.

Do i think this will hurt tokyo.. yeah. Will this stop certain kinds of materials from being made and published.. yeah. Just because most of the big publishers of manga and anime are in tokyo... next stop they would send those manga's and animu to be done and sold outside tokyo in Kobe/Osaka/ or even in Ryukyu(Okinawa) Which is better just because tokyo is too full of foreign weebs and ass kissers of the government.

Well then i have a question. Why does this ban exists only in Tokyo? I mean yes this can be easily dealt with by publishing the manga in the other cities but...

Don't flame me for this but in my view this is a little odd. You had given an example with the states of america. It may be that every city in Japan has his own "Leader"?

Why only tokyo... because the law is from tokyo only, until they bring it to the diet(their congress) and make a national law it only a local ordinance. The governor of tokyo just decided to make a law and got it passed by the prefecture gikai( assembly). It's stupid to ban anything in my opinion.. of course their should be regulations on where you can see, or buy the material... you shouldn't be able to watch porn on normal tv where the little ones can see, but it not a ban.. it's just like what we use here in the states and other western counties.. backroom and need to be of legal age to whack yourself off in the car.

The political system of japan is like here in the states or any western democracy.

Legislative branch

Regional leader Gov
Regional Legislative branch

Local leader aka mayors
city council

The only difference between the japanese system (parliamentary ) and the federal system of Representative Presidential is that presidential system the people elect direct to who they want the head leader to be. The parliamentary the people elect their regions mp or Member of parliament and the parliament elects within themselves who will be the leader... States and Prefectural are elected by the direct votes.

With that being said the elector college system which The us uses does almost the same thing as the parliamentry system except the total votes in a state automatically
gives that person who won the votes necessary to be the leader.. a retarded system.

This law is spearheaded by Shintarō Ishihara, he's only the Governor of Tokyo. I'm sure he would have liked to have made it a national law, but he only presides over Tokyo.

Ironic thing is he is generally very unpopular with the masses, but he is heavily supported by elderly voters in Japan. Many people give the United States a bad rap with it's low voter turn out between the ages of 18-25, but Japan is much worse. If the younger adults of Japan were more inclined to vote, Ishihara probably wouldn't still be Governor and possibly none of this would have happened.

If it's just a rating system is ok, if not... WTH is ok too it's not the end of the world. I think that there must be regulations on to what kids have access...

As this supposed rule has just come into effect and still in its early stages, most of us, including those related to the manga industry, will have to wait a little longer before having a clearer picture of the entire situation. Hopefully, things are not as bad as protrayed by the media, namely the internet.

I think too many people got their news from Sankaku Complex or a place that got their news from Sankaku Complex. Neko-chan's post should be made a sticky in regards to this situation. Most people I've talked to (from Japan) have said that our media outlets have blown it radically out of proportion. I guess only time will tell...
