[font=verdana][color=green]Usagi Drop is a great surprise for me this season. I came in expecting mediocrity, but you can tell that this isn't the case.
[font=verdana][color=green]The animation style is unique, but beautiful. Whilst it isn't as crisp as other anime styles out there, the pastels used bring an air of calm to the anime; this coupled with the soft lines results in a very pleasant experience for the eyes - they are never overwhelmed, but they still enjoy a feast of colours. It's very similar to Kimi ni Todoke; another anime noted for it's animation style.
I am already beginning to like the main characters. Well, I like the main male lead, but that little girl is the sweetest thing to grace the screen for a while (Yes, she is much more adorable than Yune). It is quite obvious that she is intelligent; the cat's cradle, the grandfather's favourite flower and even wanting to wind the clock. It's the little things she does, and the things that she doesn't do, which makes her visibly intelligent. This is where Reina-chan is highlighted; Rin isn't your average child when compared to the over-active, loud and selfish Reina-chan. If I could have a daughter, I wish she could be like her. Dai is a likable male lead; from the start, he never ignored Rin, and is already become a role-model for her; as noted due to Rin trying to emulate Dai's incense technique and her crying in his arms when she realises her Father won't wake up again. It was very touching to see these things, and they weren't overplayed either. It kept it's calm, relaxed feel all the way through.
The family members really irritated me though. They had nothing but disdain for Rin; they ignored her when they were placing flowers in the Grandfather's coffin and they just wanted her out of their hands as soon as possible. They even acted negative towards Dai; they mocked him about how he can't help the child and weren't supporting when he decided to take in the child. They are a bunch of cowards that huddle together for support.
[font=verdana][color=green]Overall, I am really looking forward to this anime. Great animation, likable/lovable main characters and a great story. My top tip for this season's new anime.
