Can't say that I've read the novel but I have been watching the anime. I would assume it is similar to it's anime counter part. I'm up to episode 14 and I've enjoyed what I've seen so far. Tatsuhiro reminds me of me in a lot of ways.
the anime is really good it's a little bit cleaner than the Gnoval witch i am reading and buying right now but it is still worth watching even if you have read it
welcome to NHK is an anime i loved cos it taught me sumthing.
It taught me all about hikikomori and NEET and stuff. Before watching that i've never heard of anything like them. Now i know, and its all thnx to this anime =)
I'd have to agree. The manga is much better than the anime, though the anime isn't done badly. I've read the manga up to chapter 40 something. Haven't read the novel though, I'll probably have to check it out some time...
Bump from the depths of the forums for this awesome anime. One of my favourites. Its deals with several topics that would definitely be close to us. MMO addictions, being a loli fan and generally being an otaku in general. Very nice.
It seems the general consensus is that the manga is alot better. Time to check if it has finished its run and read it!
What?! Are you guys insane? The manga is superior? O.o in what possible way? I watched the anime (one of the very few I can watch over and over) and love it to death. But the manga was, to me, a freakin slap in the face. It makes the characters ridicule, the story is way different and is worse than I thought it could ever be. (and I even bought the manga, thinking it would be like the anime...)
But I haven't watched the novel. Is it like the anime version or the manga version?
Talk about a necro bump. Solid discussion material though and I do believe hermitVI might have a thing or two to say about it.
As for me ... never managed to finish this. It seemed funny, original, well produced and shit - basically everything I require from anime of this sort ... and yet ... I dunno...
Maybe it's because I hate seeing a lead character (male especially) getting humiliated and failing at life over and over again.
Anyways I acknowledge this as a solid series nonetheless. It just kinda missed my tastes.
Yea lol didn't want this thread to stay at the depths of this forums. I haven't read the manga like I have said before but it just seemed everyone thought the manga was better, for the sake of this anime though I do intend to read the manga atleast once.

since someone revived this thread...
THE BEST ANIME THAT GONZO HAS EVER MADE/ADAPTED!!!
The animation may have not been consistent but I still love it very much (even now)!!! One of the best mix-THEMED slice of life series, if NOT the best ever!
Even the OSTs (which I all have) are way beyond AWESOME!
I feel like uploading it now! :D (meh, maybe later)
OP/ED themes
couldn't find the TV version of the 2nd ED.
And just how the fuck can I ever forget about its characters?! The cast of seiyuus did a terrific job in portraying their respective roles.
The seiyuus of the four main characters of the anime:
(just do your own research on them if you want)
Yutaka Koizumi as Tatsuhiro SatÅ Yui Makino as Misaki Nakahara Daisuke Sakaguchi as Kaoru Yamazaki Sanae Kobayashi as Hitomi Kashiwa (senpai)
One last thing, for those who haven't seen this series yet...

Absolutely agree with you d_(>.<)_b The animation is a bit outdated, but timeless nonetheless (unlike Gantz, in wich you can notice it has suffered some time scars). You didn't mention the sound but its one of my favorite factors of the anime too. The story is just to top it all. I wish more of these animes would come up... One of my absolute favorites! :3
Seeing hermit's enthusiasm, I am still somewhat rather hesitant to watch the anime. I finished the manga last summer. I just have this sketchy feeling, that if I watch this I'll be disappointed just like with the anime Suzuka opposed to it's manga counterpart.

Was the anime at least decent in the romance part? The reason I ask is because I was thinking of going to buy the set this Friday, and I thought to myself "Is at least as decent as I would hope it to be".

If you're asking about the Suzuka anime, I would say no. I feel they did a rush job on the whole thing and made Yamato seem like a persistant whiny bastard. This is the first time I'm saying the manga is better than the anime.

I could be wrong, you might like it. I just don't like the anime because it kept all the mature stuff from the manga out of the anime. :?
