Actually, i'm not asking how long a manga lasted, but rather which is the longest, still-running manga.
Your thread seems to be about which manga has the most chapters... I think you should consider changing the topic title that doesn't clash with mine so that future conflicts between the two topics shall not arise.
Say "Manga with the most chapters".
edit: now that I think about it, your topic and mine is basically quite the same thing.

As for why Detective Conan keeps going on, it's because it's a serial, like most manga series. The main appeal isn't seeing Conan get his old body back; it's watching him solve crimes.
