It's completely impossible for me to name a favorite character after watching anime for several years but I'm fairly sure I'd need a 'neither' option.
Still ... Lelouch gets major points for best development and not originating from a shounen title.

Lulu was an awesome character. Zero... Was gay. Thats how I see it. Lulu isn't a cool person hes a pretty big pussy and yeah acts pretty gay most of the time but he is pretty fun to watch. Not my favorite but I got a kick out of his character.
