So, after some thought, I decided to have a confrontation between these two powerfull books. In order to correctly state which of the two books is the most powerfull, I've compiled a list of advantages and disadvantages for both
*Death Note
Manipulation: 7/10
-
The Death Note has the power to manipulate the mind and body of it's victim, making the user fully able to control the actions of his/her target. The only drawback to this feature is the fact that anyone who's been mentioned in it, will inevitably die, leaving little room for playing around with a bitch that pissed you off once, or just warning the people who did or are doing something wrong towards the world, but not enough to actually deserve death. In other words, you manipulate people by writing down how you want them to behave, but unless you enjoy killing people for fun, your options for victims are more limited. You can't just have fun with whoever you want to.
Effectiveness: 7/10
-
The person who's name has been written in the Death Note will inevitably die the way you described it, unless owner of another Note has written it before you did. However, it cannot bend reality, so the details of the victim's death have to be written within the confines of common sense.
Leisure of use: 7.5/10
-
In order for the Note to take effect, the owner simply writes stuff down, making it a pretty to use tool, especially if you have the Shinigami Eyes (unfortunately, that takes away half of your remaining life time, so it is a MAJOR drawback). If you want to take things to the next level and change the world, things might get a bit more complicated, but if you have the dedication and intellectual capacity to do it, ou should be able to handle it.
Price: 2.5/10
-
Unfortunately, whoever uses a Death Note will not be able to go to Heaven or Hell (which, apparently, exist in that reality) and if they choose to bargain for the Shinigami Eyes, half their remaining life span is taken away. Not to mention that you'll be watched by a Shinigami for the duration of your ownership (which can be a good or a bad thing, depending on the type of death god you're dealing with).
Empowerment: 8/10 - Shinigami * 2/10 - Humans
-
Humans do not recieve any empowerment from using the Notebook, other than the fact that they can kill people with a pen. Shinigami add the lifespan of their victims to their own, thus gaining a limited form of immortality, or rather ageless-ness.
Escapability: 1/10 - Victims * 9/10 - User
-
There are no known cases of someone escaping the death sentence by being mentioned in the Death Note.
*Black Bible from... Bible Black
Manipulation: 6/10
-
You can manipulate your victims however you want to, provided you know the right spell to put the desired effect on your target. The spellbook more variety in terms of plaything options, since it kills the victim only if you want to, but is limited by the fact you have to put more effort and make contact with your chosen individual/s for it to work.
Effectiveness: 7/10
-
If you possess enough willpower and knowledge about the book, your spells will always work, unless you come across another magic user who is equal or superior in terms of willpower and knowledge.
Leisure of use: 5/10
-
If you are inexperienced with magic, then you have to make a considerable effort to actually put a spell on someone, as opposed to the Death Note. If the user's knowledge is superior, it is easier to cast spells, even without the book, but in most cases you still have to make contact with your victim. And it takes either alot of time, or a pact with the devil to become a powerfull user.
Price: 9/10
-
If you plan on being casual, and just using the spellbook's magic for fun and leisure, then it pretty much comes for free. The only significant cost is when you make a pact with the devil, and sell your soul for power. Otherwise, it's gratis.
Empowerment: 7/10
-
There is quite a number of enhancements you can recieve from using the magic of the spellbook, ranging from enhanced strenght/stamina/sexuality to a very limited form of prolonging life, through soul transfer.
Escapability: 9/10 - Victims * 2/10 - User
-
Unless the victim dies of overstimulation or because of the intention of the user, they pretty much are off the hook after the spell wears off or is lifted. Also, if you engage yourself in a pact and want out, there are ways if you are willing to look for them.
In my opinion, if you want to change the world for the better (or worse), the Death Note is a way more powerfull and deadlier tool, but if your aim is simply pleasure or personal gain without to many strings attached, the Black Bible is more suitable.
So, what are your thoughts, vote for your candidate and add some more features for each book, if you have any to add!
