"lacks any sense at all". As in, how does a girl who lives in poverty possibly afford to have a small time-traveling device? The next "logical" step is to have space-time warping device/powers. Also, if time-travel is possible, certainly realistic illusions shouldn't be too far off either. And it's Tenkla. If anyone can shoehorn in a BS reason for a plot-device, it's him.
