The plot of the anime is: Kyo Sogoru, a high school boy living in a city called Maihama, leads a normal life of school, romance, and the swim club. Kyo's life changes when he sees a girl, Shizuno Misaki, at the pool one day and discovers he is initially the only person who can see her. He is drawn into a world of fighting giant robots in a game-like world. However, Kyo soon comes to realize that the world that he is living in might not even be real at all. As he questions the nature of the reality he lives in, Kyo must continue to fight in order to protect the lives of those important to him. (Taken from wiki The All-knowing.)
Would recommend this anime to anyone who enjoys mecha animes and would give it 8/10 for overall rating.
The anime is set in a post apocalyptic world where humans as we know them as been wiped out and everyone is living in quantum servers as data. A select few awaken from the servers and fight against robots that intend to destroy the world.

Very good anime IMO.
Though I knew little about it prior to watching I was very pleasantly surprised. Good story with a lot of twists and drama. The mecha CG designs kinda sucked but that's one of the very few flaws I could name and one that you quickly get accustomed to. Many different genres flow through it so it should also fit a wider audience.

It was an ok series. It was really interesting until he found out that he was a hologram in the real world. After that it sort of began to bottom out. I gave it a 3 out of 7.

Absolutely unacceptable ! You should rate out of 9.33 :P
But seriously - the event that you mentioned marked the start of the better part of the series for me. Without it Zegapain would have been less unique and simply another 'kids in mechs' series. Not everything after that was executed flawlessly perhaps but I still found it enjoyable.
It's only my personal opinion and a matter of preference though.
