I have nearly 200 dollars of stuff in my cart heh. Waiting for the bills to be paid. :P

Will the chapters already available to subscribers be made unavailable unless you buy the book?

Maybe it'll be different for this, but I know at least with Gujira's book you can still read the subscription chapter. There are slight differences and I assume all the SFX will be translated for the book.

Edit: Oh wait, I own the book. Uhh I'm not sure then.

I think jacob said if the author doesn't say to or some else i don't remember right this second with no coffee and meds in me..... the magazine chapters will stay since most likey the tank version are redone or updated.

In the past we've had books with 2-3 chapters that were already in the subscription, and we've tried some different things with those. Now that we've published these magazines for so long, most of the books that come out have already been published through the subscription, and this book is the first example of that. One of our upcoming releases is in a similar spot. We don't want to have two separate, competing version for each chapter up on the site, so I believe the current subscription chapters will be turned into book chapters when it's time to release them. And yes, they have been updated for the book release.

Naturally that means several chapters from an individual author is removed from the subscription, but it should have very little impact on the experience overall. 7 chapters from this book are affected, but right now we add 21-24 full chapters each week (3/day + 1 extra short Friday-Sunday when available + illustrations/spreads), so you'll never lose overall value unless we start releasing two books/week. One exception I could see would be if a book comes out shorty after the last magazine chapter was released. In that case it would be fair to leave that one as a subscription chapter for a while, but for this book, the newest chapter has already been on the site for over five months, which I think is a more than reasonable amount of time.

I agree with the two versions being confusing (I have two of the same in my favorites that I just noticed, for an older book). I also can see having a book incentive. However, for the past couple books, I did find it useful to be able to see some of the chapters as a preview, to determine if it fit my tastes.

So, as long as those chapters are not removed immediatly (maybe after the book is shipped or made avail for download), I support this plan.
