One small question. If you license a book like
Radical Gogo Baby, full of color pages, the number of color page would have an effect on prices?
It's just asked out of curiosity (I'd still buy that, twice)
Just my 2 cents, but I'd have to assume yes, since they're no doubt more expensive to produce, and he wants to keep parity with the quality of the original Japanese tankoubons.
I'm personally hoping we'll also get art books and stuff too. I already import some since there's usually not as much text and no plot to follow, but I'd love being able to read the illustrator's notes and other trivia.
Color pages certainly do cost more to print and a lot more time goes into typesetting them, so there certainly is an additional cost to both produce and print color pages. The color pages in a typical book like Renai Sample wouldn't have any impact on the price of the book (Renai Sample has a little under 20 color pages). Our upcoming Bosshi release has close to
40 color pages and again I don't think we'll raise the price of the book to compensate for the increased production cost.
However a book like TiTiKEi, which has almost
100 color pages, would most definitely see an increase in price. The Japanese release of the book was about ¥500 more expensive than similar releases without color pages, so we'd probably do something similar and price that book at $5 more than our others. But TiTiKEi is
a special book, and warrants a lot of time and effort for it to reach the quality we want it to be (that's why we pushed it a big back so we could learn from the other books first).
