Don't put yourself in a situation where rape might be eminent (ie. drinking party full of strangers where you let loose and disregard all sense of restriction). It's been said before but I haven't heard of anyone being raped at a convention.

That's a very odd thing to imply, namely that for the OP to crossplay, he must be homosexual. Do you think that every girl who cosplays Edward Elric is a lesbian? I know several guys who crossplay (myself being one of them as of next year), and they do it because they like their characters, not because they expect others of their gender to make sexual advances upon them.

By the same token, if I'm crossplaying from a yuri series, what exactly does that make me? :S

doodet... i work for a con and NEVER have i EVER herd of ANYONE getting raped even from naboring cons. this is a non issue totally. security/staff will be EVERYWHERE and to prevent shit like creepy guys raping girls. certain areas (LOTS of them, all unused ones) are blocked off by locked doors or security/staff and sometimes police so any chance of rape happening is pretty unlikely... plus there are way too many people around so combine that with no were to go and it pretty much sums it up for you. i say go and have fun with no worry! you might get the occasional creeper or fanboy stalker and some of them will go away and leave you alone if you just tell them that there kinda creeping you out but there are some who you have to inform security/staff about.
