A Light Novel Sub section under Anime and Manga

Just thought it would be a good idea. Be able to discuss Light Novels and (maybe) literature (like Harry Potter and the such). Also if it was ok to post links in thread topics to downloadable files of novels.

If it wasn't too much trouble to do.

So what do you guys think? Good idea or not?

Beside the normal "this is a hentai site" or "Fakku is too buggy to do bother to do such things"

I said a sub section, not a fourm section where anyone can just make random threads about stuff.

I'm talking about light novels. y'know the stuff that ususally comes before the manga and anime.

I'm pretty certain Jacob won't implement that because it'd be a fairly low traffic section and as Solva said we have an entertainment section for that.

You'll need some more support before Jacob will consider it. My guess is because light novels are rarely translated and FAKKU is an English speaking site.

Dont think you will have much luck with just a "light novel" section, but perhaps a "literature", where you can talk both about light novels and the more proper novels. I think GroverCleaveland asked this earlier, but whether the roll back deleted it, I dont know... I would like to see a "literature" forum implemented, but I dont exactly have high expectations that it would happen, or, if it did, work.

Despite the entertainment forum seeming a little more tailored towards TV shows and the like, it is still a relavent forum. Also light novels (and indeed normal novels) dont seem to have the greatest interest among the denizens of Fakku, which would make a new special interest forum perhaps a tad under-appericated and one risks having too many forums with too little content that way.

Also apparently Fakku is undergoing some changes at the moment (and I dont think a restructuring of the forums is one of them, but then again I have no idea whats going to happen), which means the staff behind Fakku will be busy and unable to consider/implement a new sub-forum properly

But I figured since we have a manga thread and anime thread a light novel thread would seem somewhat logical.


Well if you think about it, there is a few forum sections that don’t get a lot of traffic anyways so I don’t think adding a new forum sections wouldn’t be a big deal.

On the contrary you can give comments without being bias. Also you can’t really say Hitler was to blame fully for WW2. Yes he was the leader and was in rule of the country. But you got to remember that people still followed him and a lot of them by will. You can’t fight a war without people right?

And it is “Hitler WAS evil” seeing as he is… y’know… dead =/

I dont see why you are putting normal in quotation marks. I never stated that Light Novels were less normal than novels, but rather a slightly different medium. Traditional novels is a different medium and therefore calling traditional novels the more proper novel is not meant to put down Light novels, so I am sorry if that message came across.



You have have the whole slippery slope argument here. And i think forums have been removed before due to low traffic, this is from memory, but I think there was a Travel forum or something along those lines in the past... There is no point in having a very low-traffic forum, as nobody really uses it and it just clutters up the site.
Also other relatively low-traffic forums, like Food and Cooking, are there for historical reasons of this site. I think it was Nikon's influence, or something...




You are taking my comments completely out of context, I never said that Hitler was the sole cause of WW2, but merely that he had a significant role in that dreadful event.

Hey I am not here to argue =/ if you take what I said as me trying to create an argument then sorry. Not saying that is what your trying to do mind you.

I just figured that having a light novel section would be nice since we already got an anime and manga section. Since it is a pain trying to find good light novels that I might like while browsing the net. I figure since I usually on fakku, it would be nice if it had a light novel section.

I created this thread to see if anyone agreed, not to get posts that state the obvious reason why it might not get made.

Also me poking at things you wrote was only out of my boredom =/

Its cool, sorry if I misinterpreted you. I would support a thread, though not having lots of time on my hands now, I can see myself having some more free time soon, and as such, potential links to light novels would be quite useful.

Also having a place where you can discuss novels other then in chat would be nice.

I just recently finished Hidan no Aria 1-5 and needed to figure out what light novels I should read until newer volumes come out =/

Just put "all" of your discussion in the "Entertainment Section" For now, we'll see how it goes.
If "people" demanded it, we will try to implement it.

So, rather than just suggesting us to make something, You need to make us realize that we "NEED" that section.

Reasons why a certain section was made
-Anime upload section -> Massive upload of animes, NEED to separate them from H-anime
-Writing and fanfiction -> Massive request from people for a place to post their writings. NEED to satisfy them
-Love, Romance, and Relationships -> Massive threads about Love problems, NEED to separate it from Random so people can focus.
-etc etc

Two Key words, Massive amount of- and NEED
Fakku currently doesn't need a "Light Novel Section", and there's no massive thread posting or request about it.

Failed Sections reasons of creation and removal
-Paranormal -> Massive zombie/alien threads, removed due inactivity
-Travel -> Many people want to show off their country and travels, removed due inactivity
-Mecha and Robots -> Massive thread postings, merged with figures and toys due to inactivity
etc

Off-topic as this is, why is that anyway?

I suppose it would better to ask Jacob himself, but I don't quite understand why that would be a problem. I mean, yeah, it would be ideal if it were a section that got a lot of traffic. But what would be the harm in it?

If it were a low traffic area as everyone would assume, it wouldn't be as though it would likely take a lot of effort to maintain and moderate, so I don't see how "it would be unnecessary work" could be a reason not to create a sub-section.

really cant tell you, it's just that he has said no to other sections due to low traffic in the past. Perhaps its a scripting thing?

From what I learned, more categories/sections, etc there are, the bigger the script/database get; whenever someone makes a change to the forum, the change will probably have to be implemented to all sections. This leads to increased amount of time wasted, management, unnecessary works, and increased possibility of an error.

Well, I'm neither Jacob nor unpantsu, so I wouldn't really know but that's my guess.

Edit: I would also like a light novel section, but like Kaimax said, the amount of demands is negligible at best.

if only we can turn this into a poll thread and see how many people would be in support to the idea.

You could try to ask him to change and retitle the writing section to merge with your idea to form a general 'Literature' section where any creative literary works can go under, since the writing section might also go down if the views do not increase.

You don't need to ask, you don't need to make a poll.

It's easier if you can persuade people with actions:
Just make individual threads in entertainment, and make sure you make them a lot (no spamming) and active enough.

This is how the anime upload section, the Love section and the music section was made. and with enough time and dedication those section will be made.
