Yeah, trying to change my avi, doesn't work on all my browser (Firefox, Chrome or Safari).

I had to crop a part of the whole image that i want to use for my avatar and resize it over and over again in order to keep the file size below 1MB before uploading and it still took a long ass time to load on the must cropping page.Have experienced this issue with my previous avi(the DJ pon-3 cosplayer) not the current one.

Yeah the avatar thing's been a thorn in our sides for a while. The only reason I manage to change avatars without a problem is because I use the one that was resized for me before it went gay.
Try cropping the image to 160x260 pixels yourself and see if you get any better results.
