FAKKU: Comment, Forum, and Signature Posting Guide

This topic will serve as a complete guide for the posting functionality on the forums, user signatures, private messages, and manga and doujinshi comments. At times we may add and remove functionality, but this topic should serve as a fairly definitive guide. Feel free to post comment, suggestions, and bugs in this thread. I will be keeping this post updated when things changed.

All code must be properly formatted in order to work.

Comments

Comments on manga and doujinshi allow basic BBCode, mentions, and icons.

Forums

Posts and topics on the forums allow BBCode, mentions, basic HTML, and icons.

Private Messages

Private Messages allow BBCode, basic HTML, and icons.

Signatures

User signatures allow BBCode, basic HTML, and icons.

# Mentions

You can mention a specific user in your post (similar to Twitter) by using an at sign followed by the users FAKKU handle. A FAKKU handle is part of the URL of a users profile, specifically the part following "https://www.fakku.net/users/_____", where ____ is the handle. The user will receive a notification alerting them of the mention and directing them to the topic/comment. You cannot mention more than 10 users in one post.

# Icons

We allow you to use icons from the Font Awesome suite of icons. You can use the icons in forum posts, content comments, private messages, and signatures. Just take the name of the icon and surround it in icon BBCode. Some examples are included below:

also some stuff doesnt work anymore, like embedded youtube (see here) and spoilers in signatures, for some reason.

okay, the old youtube style with ".*" doesnt work anymore, so all pre-this update made YT embeds are affected

Very nice! And I see the youtube BBCode now also supports https? I remember the lack of that causing some trouble before.



Must have been some change to how the signatures are handled, the spoiler in mine was fixed by simply pressing the Update Signature button when I noticed this problem yesterday.

Just update your signature and any problems should be fixed, assuming you're code is all correct. We did drop the old ".*" Youtube thing, it was actually the result of a long standing bug that I cleaned up.

Why can I no longer put a spoiler in a spoiler I request you should be able to do this again.

There is any reason why you can't see the content of a spoiler while previewing a post?

That's definitely a bug, I'll get the post preview fixed up later this week.

You mean an at sign followed by the Fakku handle, right? Ampersand is what you get when you do shift-7. ;)

Oops. Thanks for pointing out my incompetence, fixed.

One issue. I remember that there was a certain cutoff point for the forums. Users with accounts made before the cutoff point have their profile URLs as such:

https://www.fakku.net/users/artcellrox

Users with their accounts made after the cutoff point have their URLs as such:

https://www.fakku.net/users/jmaerk-3891015

Excluding that number from the URL (if it exists) yields no result.

So my main question about this is, how does it affect mentions? Do we need to include that number when mentioning someone?

Yes you have to include the numbers. Eventually we'll add an auto suggest once you start typing the @ symbol, but not for a while. Though FAKKU Gold users will be able to rename themselves and change their profile handle at any time.
