which would you prefer?

well I was putting my comments down for a few new mangas and hey next time I visit I get like 10 downvotes and my comment wasn't anything special just "I like it" or "That was interesting" nothing major. So here I think to myself why we even have a downvote option I would prefer just upvote or no vote or a way to keep track of who downvotes you. which would you prefer? And explain please.

I don't know since it's not my site. Also who cares it's the comments section and the downvotes have no real meaning.

Learn to take criticism. And as "Say What" said nobody really cares about down/upvotes and the comment section at all except for occasional DDL.

People are just fighting to get to the top of the comment section as if it's something special, don't worry about it, it's happened to me a few times. Doesn't bother me because I don't read the comments that much, I'm there to read the manga. The DDL is the only thing worth looking out for.

I don't have a website counter, but isn't there hundreds of thousands of page views from different IPs a month? And how many people actually post on the forums? Like a few hundred?

I've wondered about this before as well. When you look at the amount of people who have voted in the front page polls compared to how many people there are in the forums it's pretty surprising. A lot of people just don't post.

I dont really know much about the mangas and commenting and other stuff related to them. But if I recall correctly the highest voted comments are on top and lowest are well, lower. So, maybe people down vote unrelevant posts so the comments with direct downloads and other useful comments are the first ones people see.
IF people downvote because of this, I totally understand it and I think its a good thing they do that. That way people dont have to go through all the useless comments about the hotness of the said hentai to find the more relevant comments.
So imo the best way to NOT get those downvotes is to comment only if you have something relevant to say.

You can turn those off. Go to your profile, click the edit button, scroll down, and change the box for "comment vote" to no.

You can turn those off. Go to your profile, click the edit button, scroll down, and change the box for "comment vote" to no.
oh we have something like that well if that's true i'm def gonna go turn it off since its just an annoyance receiving those sure upvotes are nice to see but infinite downvotes just annoys me to death. for me in the poll I'm choosing remove downvote all together. That way if someone disagrees they can just say so instead.

Removing downvote would be completely stupid. If criticism were to be removed, then why would anyone bother trying to improve what was posted? Instead of thinking "Oh, people don't like this comment. Maybe I shouldn't post something like this again" people would just think it's fine to post garbage because nobody could downvote it. They may not get anything good out of it, but they don't get anything bad either. Sure, other people could respond to their comment telling them that what they said was bad, but that's more effort than most would be willing to put into a comment that's most likely going to be ignored.

You don't get to decide what a valid reason to downvote is. They don't have to explain themselves and nor do you(if you want to downvote stuff you can as well). THe voting system is working as intended and won't be going anywhere any time soon. You should really try not caring about downvotes because they really mean nothing.

I just keep the whole detail to myself or tell the guy since it's just my opinion. Haven't you ever heard the expression "If you don't have anything good to say don't say it".
