Having problems uploading a profile picture

After getting kinda bored with my pictureless avatar, I decided I wanted to upload something to give a face to the typing. The picture I was going to use is 154x156, and is about 6kb. But for some unknown reason, I cannot upload it, from my hard drive, or even from photobucket.

Is there something I'm doing wrong, or is one of the servers being anal?

Hmm that is strange. Put the picture in Sadpanda so I can see if there's any problem.

File type might be a problem. Is it something other than a JPEG?
