When it comes to giving users privileges that benefit the site, I like to choose users who are generally nice to everyone. It encourages more users to act that way.

At least I don't have a shit list of people that speak against me or don't agree with everything I say.

Too bad being nice to everyone doesn't get shit done all the time. They are actually completely unrelated when it comes to individual effort which is what a lot of this would involve. Anyone check the date this thread was made?

I made this thread in like May of last year. That's why I gave up on the idea of it ever getting looked at a long time ago.

As to the merge, which names are the most used?

All were merged and put in one name tag for each.

For that I'm not sure since I don't know which name Fakku usually use to tag the artist name, the doujin circle's or the author's. I prefer to use the circle's name though, in this case those would be Kabayakiya, MTSP, and Magonotei.

I also found a lot of duplicates in artist names caused by typos, caps, or different style of writing (e.g. Kouchaya & Koucha-ya, Outerworld, Outer World & Circle Outerworld). The easiest way to organize artist names is to check the Sort by.. Artist page and just read down the list and check the artwork if you see any suspicious name, or check mugimugi if you're still unsure. Also, names starting with "Artist", "Circle", "Studio", or ending with "-tei" and "-ya" are possibly dupes.

For example, I just casually skimmed the first page and already got quite a few. Checked the doujins and confirmed they were made by the same artists.



I wanted to tell you guys about this since quite some time ago, but I realized putting on tags and naming unknown doujins are more important at the moment so I held back and eventually forgot about it.

Thanks, again! Merging artists to one name is also a priority for me: we want to make Fakku as organized as possible for users to find new manga, as well as locate old faves or styles.

Please let me know which name you are going to put an artist under in cases where there are duplicates. I'd hate to be putting everything under one name, while you guys were putting everything under another :p

Yeah... had that problem with about 400 of the Unknowns (off the 800 we used to have and I went through). Until we either have Jacob add the ability for us to add new author names, or someone else who has such permissions does so, we're a bit screwed. :\

I'll try to do this soon.
