Again, this is in the nature of subscription services. Netflix, Spotify, Crunchyroll, FF14, etc. are not a one-time payment, because the offering is ever-evolving and growing. Purchases are available for finished products, which in our case are DRM free books, doujinshi, games, etc.
The advantage of a subscription, in addition to the new additions, is the greater value on offer; at a theoretical sale price of $1 per chapter, the current offering would cost the equivalent of
over 60 years of Unlimited. Realistically it would be pricier than that (users have in the past suggested upwards to $4-6 per item), so even if you're only interested in a fraction of what's available, that same money would still grant you years of full access to the Unlimited library.
There are valid reasons for not liking the subscription model, but there are currently no plans to make its content downloadable or purchasable.
Yes, which is one reason I don't engage with most subscription services.
I NEVER said they weren't viable or whatever. I said that I'd like the opti9n to purchase chapters for series that want instead of paying for service that:
A. Only lets me rent content when what I want is to own it.
B. Doesn't offer a download option BECAUSE it's a subscription service.
Yeah, no. It's just n9t a very enticing model for doujinshi/manga, at least for me.
