An update has been pushed for the reader that should hopefully fix this issue. Try it out and report back with the results.
If it still keeps crashing, you should also try going to the settings and changing the new option "Downscaling Method" to "Fast" and see if that helps.
(If you can't access the settings due to crashing, you should try to clear your cookies - this should reset your reader settings and hopefully allow you to use it long enough to access the settings.)
