Suggestion: Personal Tag "Blacklist"

Often I find myself browsing through recent submissions only to find everything tagged "Anal", "Forced", "Humiliation", or "Paizuri", which, while I'm sure many others enjoy, isn't exactly my cup of tea. Unfortunately, it makes it difficult to find recent submissions that I'm actually interested in, as well as kinda killing the mood.

I think an option in the settings for each user (if they desire) to set up a blacklist of content they wish to not view while browsing new (or any) submissions would greatly enhance many users enjoyability of the site, no?

If you blacklist a tag, you wouldn't be able to see any recent uploads with that tag. Sometimes uploaded manga has tags for content which is tame at best, but still qualifies to receive it. Blacklisting it would make you miss out on something you could potentially like, if you gave it a chance. I wouldn't exactly call that "enjoyability of the site".

Plus if you blacklisted multiple tags there's a chance you wouldn't see any uploads for weeks on end. That would kill the mood a bit more than simply ignoring a recent upload with a tag you dislike.

Might it be possible, just a little bit, that someone might not come here with an exact idea of what they actually want to read, while still having a very clear idea of what they don't want to read, ever?

Saying "use the search bar" doesn't help at all, the search bar doesn't have an option to search for "anything that's not rape". I just want to see only the recent posts that don't kill my boner. I really don't see how anyone could be so opposed to such a simple yet extremely useful function.

If a user blacklists anal because they don't ever want to see anal, i'm sure they're well aware that it means that they will never see anything tagged anal. So i don't even understand what issue you had with the idea Gravity Cat.

This is an awesome idea for a FAKKU Gold feature, I'll look into adding it this week.

A proper filter system shouldn't be limited to subscribed users. You're making a fool of yourself.

Another suggestion would be to add on in the forums.

Unfortunately those are the types of features that severely impact the performance of the website, which is why they would have to be a FAKKU Gold feature.

I see what you're doing here. If you're going to allow people to filter out certain tags then at least the website should benefit from it financially, or else risk losing too many people viewing manga they could otherwise potentially like. Clever.

Well this is a rather old post. I hope it gets implemented in Gold, but I didn't see it mentioned on the recent update post.



Performance might actually be a valid concern. I'm not an expert but if every user had a personalized home page the servers would have to handle a specialized query for nearly everyone. There would be way too many different specialized queries to get much benefit out of caching. You could maybe get better performance by only querying the most recent 200 uploads but there are also weird edge cases in which a user blocks out all the most popular tags, leaving the front page nearly empty. Anywho the home page gets clicked very, very frequently so I think it's legitimately taxing.

Wrong. If you do a tag search which includes a tag with a minus in front of it, it searches for all manga with your tag and excludes manga with the minus'd tag.

For example, searching "Vanilla -oppai" would give you vanilla mangoes without oppai.

Yeah, that would be great if i wanted vanilla mangoes without oppai. Does not help when you want to find everything that doesn't have oppai. Searching "-oppai" for example just returns an error page.

Use english as the base term, so for example "english -oppai". That will work for now until Jacob fixes it.

In practicality it's still much more cumbersome than an automatic blacklist (as you'd have to add many different exception tags all the time if you're a bit picky), but it definitely works which is better than nothing.

It also shows that it wouldn't really be all that resource intensive on the server, as you can easily make a blacklist function by simply having the homepage default to such filtered search results. So maybe it might not have to be a premium feature if it's ever actually added?

Or you can go about this the harder way; subscribe all the tags that are not rape/NTR (or whatever) and only read what comes up on your notifications.
