I'm running Firefox as well and I haven't encountered that problem.

I'm also using firefox and haven't seen any weird icons on the topic names like in the picture you posted. Is it still happening?

Awesome, instant soberification. What exactly does ctrl + f5 do?

ctrl f5 forces a cache reset, so anything corrupted in there no longer affects the page.
