English of the Dead!

Japan offers a new way to learn English... by zapping zombies! And I think I would be pretty good at it.


Wish there was a game where I could learn Japanese, I think that's the only way my concentration wouldn't waver.

First thing I thought when I read this ... Typing of the Dead.

I have a few problems with this game.

Zombies usually lust for intelligent brains, but in this game you're gonna get your butt kicked if you (for example) spelled something wrong, which makes you look rather dumb.

Remember that one Simpsons episode where the Zombies wouldn't touch Homer?

This just doesn't make sense at all.

I haven't seen it in action, but i'm assuming that all it will be is Typing of the Dead, where you shoot the zombies by typing the word above their head, but with english words used in a matter that teaches them as it goes. Most likely having easy words on normal zombies and progesing to harder words once you get to the more "skilled" zombies XD

Typing of the Dead and even the piano version were quite popular in Japan and not just in homes. They even had arcade machines and such for them.

Anyways, as for games that teach japanese, there is always the Slime forest game. While clearly not as fun as this, it's pretty much the same idea, and free. It's a old school RPG style game where in battles, Japanese characters are shown over the monster's head. To attack and hit them, you have to type the sound of that character. I don't have the link with me, but i'll post it later (or you could just google slime forest)

Somehow the first thing I noticed about that was in fact that it was by tactac. I wasn't exactly looking at the screen and my eyes wandered to the name and I was like, "What the hell?" I think I'll be chuckling to myself about how shocked I was by this for a while. Congrats tactac! (Btw awesome move Jacob)
