FAKKU: When all the good things in life come together.

I have said it many times but the User Uploads section of the forums is a great place to find new hentai between main page updates. I am really impressed with the dedication of some of the users to share this stuff with you. So the least I can do is link to some of the threads here on the main page, if you like anything they share give them a thank you.

I meant to mention last week, but we have taken down the image section temporarily to address server performance problems during peak hours. With it being down things have been incredibly fast, so we are really working hard on fixing the problems with it. However this has inspired me to start working on things that I have been putting off because I didn't want more people to come to the site and crash the servers. So you will start noticing things changing around the site as I work on them, first being the view manga page.

Users will be able to edit the information directly by correcting mistakes, adding artist or series information, and even writing descriptions. Now that I think about it I should also add some descriptive tags for each manga. In any case, this isn't 100% online yet but by the next update it should be. I also plan on adding a ton of features to the user profiles, so if you have ideas on things you think would be cool tell me right now. Right now.

I frequently stumble upon blogs that write little paragraphs about FAKKU and provide links. I want to encourage this, a lot. So now that things are running fast and I no longer fear more users coming to the site and crashing the servers, I am brainstorming ways to encourage users to do this and reward them for it. At the moment the only thing I can come up with is adding a link page to all of the blogs or sites that link to us. So let me know if you have any ideas on this subject as well.

And last but certainly not least... hentai!

Well on the profile page, the favourites button and the comments button still don't work for me~ 'course thats just me.

Other then that, you could try to do a friend system or something along the lines of that, but I'm guessing a lot of people would complain as the similarities to Myspace etc.

Or even a "favourite uploaders/artists/subbers/etc" instead of just favourite doujin.

The profile system other then that is pretty good.

inside our upload section for profiles could you make it so we could upload more pictures at one time because its a lil intimidating to upload one at a time and have it lag...over... and over... and over.

i'd like to just say thanks Jacob for advertising for the user uploaders and to wish the FAKKU staff luck on trying to improve the site

This is a bad idea... allowing random users to be able to mess around with the artist name and info on the doujin.... That's just reckless bahaviour, even if u set up a reward system for the people who help, what's to guarantee some idiot from writing false, insulting or crude information that will only make the situation at hand even worse... A better idea would be to assign someone or a group of trustable FAKKU'ers to the task and have all information pass through them and then they would accordingly place the information in the correct places whilst fending off ridiculous counts and fallacies. Kind of like the editors of a section in a newspaper. Well, in the end, it all boils down to what Jacob want to do... but i still highly advise against it!

Hmmm these are things I neglected to think about. I was planning on it being a first come first thing where the description was just written by the first person who bothered to do it. But I can see how users would like to add their own descriptions as well. I suppose I could turn it into a review type of thing where users can write reviews for each manga if they want to and it lists those instead... but I'll need more of everyones thoughts on the matter.

And I had no intention of having the page display which users added information. I would hope users wouldn't care about it, but I can see why it's a good idea. My worry is that it would make the page look ugly to display more information like that.



I probably should have mentioned that we will not be allowing guests to edit information. There will be a reputation requirement in order to add information on the view manga page. Probably between 2 and 5. In addition there will most likely be a higher group of users who are allowed to change any of the information.

Still thinking about how I want it to work, I am still open to suggestions though.

I have just a couple of suggestions to make.

First off with the manga maybe you could implement a type of rating system for each manga. Like star rating from 1-5 going in intervals of .5. Or maybe instead of stars it could be FAKKU and each letter is one haha. I'm lame. I do love the idea of adding tags to the manga though. I think that would be a nice feature. I wouldn't mind knowing what I'm getting myself into before I download it.

With the user profiles you can make a favorites list for people to fill out. Such as favorite food, anime, place, movie, band, game, anime chick(haha), etc. Or maybe not even something as complicated, maybe like top 5 anime. Something like that would be pretty cool I think.

Whatever you end up doing I'm sure it'll be awesome. And thanks for the releases.

@ Jacob: Well, I agree on the "higher group of users" being able to edit any of the information. I'm not too sure about displaying the names of people who added in info. I'm leaning a little towards not displaying that information though.

Yeah, how about users, who already have been a "FAKKU ELITE" or higher can edit the description of doujinshis in the manga section, it prevents vandalism in a way. This update is a great, it encourages loyal members to be more loyal, and maybe motivates some new members trying to be loyal.

This can really help the manga section a lot by fixing the artist name or something. For example: for the artist Kensou Ogawa, it has three different names in the artist section: Kensou, Kensou Ogawa, Kensoh Ogawa. This will disambiguate all the artist's name and ETC

I don't know if this is under development or it's just broken, but the artist section in the manga section, is not working properly. After I press a link to the artist, the manga link won't come out.
