Neat to see it animated, but they cut out a lot of the nuance that made the VN cool. For example
how it was largely Archer's hesitation, and the fact that he briefly began to believe in his old dream once more which allowed Shirou to win the fight between them.
In fact, Shirou generally did much better in this movie, as far as the fighting goes, than he did in most of the VN. As I recall he was barely hanging on throughout almost every fight in this route.
They also cut out... well... everything that wasn't fighting. Understandable, given the time constraints, but it was a bit awkward to see many, many hours of dialogue and character development condensed down into a few lines in between sword wank 1 and sword wank 2.
Also, we all know why Rin was *really* crying after the... ahem... ritual.
