Quick question: would it be in any way, shape, or form illegal for you guys to scan each english translated manga into data format on a computer using an image scanner and upload it here on FAKKU so that all of us can view and/or download it at least in data format? That way even if we don't win the actual contest, we all can win in a different way by being able to still see and read them in data format? Sort of a win/win kind of thing? Would anyone else be in favor of this? (I suppose that was several questions... :lol: )

Never hurts to check; besides even if I were to enter and win, I wouldn't be able to accept the prize, seeing as I still live with the rest of my family while taking care of my basic college credits at the local community college so that I can move onto a school of pharmacy, and the rest of my family doesn't exactly approve of that type of material.

Translation: If I want to keep living rent-free at home while getting ready for med school, I still have to abide by the will and rules of my parents or get kicked out, (sucks don't it?) and that means no porno that they can find, which is why I was hoping Jacob and everybody could scan it to a downloadable format that I could get on my external drive. Cuz if the folks were to get ahold of anything like that, well, I'd rather not think about it... :(

No, no, no. Absolutely not.

1) Contrary to popular belief, we got those books from Icarus Publishing entirely out of their goodwill (no, we didn't bribe them, threaten them or whatever you guys are thinking about). It's not a good idea to betray that trust by scanning their books and distributing it to the masses, don't you?
2) Not everyone's supposed to win in a contest. That's why it's a contest: to find a winner.
3) Each book has around 220 pages. Not to mention we would need to destroy those books to scan them, meaning we wouldn't be able to give them out to the actual winners.
4) Not to mention the copyright laws we'd be breaking, eh?

Hope I made myself clear.


Unfortunately, it follows from what I said above about our relationship with Icarus Publishing, that even if we had the scans, we will not put them up for you or help you find them. If you want to get the book, you can buy it, and Icarus publishing has a lot of their releases free for download anyway, so go check their site.

*Sigh* ah well. It was worth asking. Thanks for clarifying, Raze. I thought doing that might be bad somehow, but I couldn't remember which copyright law it would infringe upon. But I suppose betraying the trust of someone who just gave you a bunch of free shit is good reason enough.

Very possibly, but I like the sound of skill based contests later on. As long as its not too simple, the lurkers will be thwarted :D

I do not see the problem, since most likely it will be sent in a small boxpackage, most likely labeled "From Fakku, with love" or something else clever.

So, unless your parents go through your mail, I do not think they would find it.

And, as for hiding it, just stick it in the back of your bookshelf. It's not like they go through that, either.
