I just got home from Otakuthon in Montreal and I have to say,
the convention was awesome. All of the staff members I met over the weekend were incredibly nice and helpful and I was shocked to learn just how many FAKKU users we have in Canada. It's great to see so many new topics in the
Meet and Greet forum, lets give our neighbors to the North a warm welcome. I highly recommend going to Otakuthon if you ever get the chance, it really is a fantastic convention. And while you're in Canada be sure to try some
poutine, I assure you, it's delicious.
As I mentioned in the original topic,
waar and I hosted 3 panels throughout the weekend:
Hentai Worth Watching,
Visual Novels and Eroge, and a
FAKKU Q&A session. In the Hentai Worth Watching panel we ran into some technical difficulties with the projector, but in the end we managed to make it work. The panel was a lot of fun and a great way to start the weekend. The Q&A session was especially interesting and something I hope to do at future conventions. We were asked really specific and in depth questions about FAKKU, our views on censorship, our inspirations over the years, plans for the future, and a lot more. It was great to get so much feedback from the community and it allowed me to really connect with the users in a way I wasn't able to before.
But the Visual Novels and Eroge panel was probably my favorite of the weekend. In it we talked about the eroge culture in Japan and discussed some of our favorite titles. But the real magic happened after the panel ended. About 20 people stayed behind after we finished and we began this group conversation about all of the things that interest us. It was great to see so many people with the same interests get along so easily. And after about an hour or so of talking we all went out for drinks at a nearby pub and I was shown some real Canadian hospitality.
It was truly a pleasure meeting everyone, you made my time in Montreal even better.
I would like to thank all of the staff members I met over the weekend, my good friends over at
Sanshee,
Yushi for introducing me to poutine and being a huge help all day Saturday, and of course
waar for coming out and helping with the panels.
And in case anyone was wondering...
In the
Hentai Worth Watching panel we talked about: Sora no Iro Mizu no Iro (Color of the Sky, Color of the Water), Hatsu Inu, Love Selection, Pollinic Girls Attack!, Stringendo & Accelerendo Ultimatum Sera, Stretta the Animation, Resort Boin, Another Lady Innoccent, and Sono Hanabira ni Kuchizuke wo (Becoming Your Lover).
In the
Visual Novels and Eroge panel we talked about: Sengoku Rance, Clannad, Fate/stay Night, Swan Song, Yume Miru Kusuri (The Drug That Makes You Dream), and Katawa Shoujo.
