The games are built on Unity IIRC? Sod it, I done some Unity game hacking before I might actually try my hand at some sort of rough in game version of this. Only issue is, I don't speak a lick of Japanese (would love to learn, but don't have the time unfortunately!) So would probably need to open translations out to the public.
Is that crazy? Is it worth spending a bit of time looking into this?
Edit: Yep, looks like it is Unity. Might be my project for a while, god knows how long it could take. Could be a while though.
You'd be duplicating a
lot of work that's already been done. The Unity subtitle hook and dumped dialogue for the JP version is available. It is always active when run, which means it covers both the main text and the H-scene text. I'd say start from there.
Translations are the least of the challenge. Other than the sheer amount of dialogue that needs translations (look at the HF dialogue files, there are thousands of lines, most poorly or not translated), it's a fairly mechanical process, just time consuming. I can do a hundred or more in an hour, depending on how esoteric the dialogue gets (or if it's "slurred" dialogue, god).
