Honey select Unlimited Modding (Help)

I'm sure I'm just stupid, as I am admittedly not very tech savvy.
But I can't wrap my head around modding for this game, All I read is just vaguely written stuff like "Download and send it to the directory"
I proceed to do that but then it turns out it doesn't work, or rather the mod never did anything or even installed.
I then learned of a modding thread for the game but alot of that was either
A) Written in a way only people familiar with modding in HS (as in no how to)
B) Made for the originally for when people had to pirate the game in order to play it with an English patch meaning alot of the mods would work because they can't find the file they're looking for.
The current mod i'm trying to install is called Wideslider, a mod generally required if my observations are to be correct. Problem is, is (B.problem) is happening and It can't find the game to patch it, I already tried changing the name of HS_unlimited_32 but that did nothing.
I'm at an impasse, please for all that is consider holy under the god of fapping please guide this wayward soul
