Call me stupid but I stream because its more convenient. Some of the anime I watch streamed I can't find a decent torrent of anymore (no seeders). I wanted to watch the Tekeman Blade series, couldn't find a lively torrent of it, but a website had all episodes. Sorry, but I'm too lazy to download episodes and then delete them when I'm done. I want the luxury to just play and move on (Buffering isn't even a problem for me anymore). If I cared about quality, then I'd pay for it.
Not only did it take me only 15 seconds to find a well seeded torrent of that show and the OVA, you are also under the assumption that the paid version has better quality. This is incorrect or placebo for the most as R1 DVDs/BDs are a lower quality than the fansub equivalent of a TV rip in some cases or the Japanese BD which is 99.9% of the time has better quality. If you are a real qualityfag you follow the Italians, or specifically the company Dynit which has a real encoder with experience who scene filters the shit out of releases and produces better quality than the Japanese do. If you grabbed UTW's (Meguca) release of Madoka and checked the screenshot comparisons you would see the difference between the Japanese and Italian. Anyway, given the compression tools we have in today's world you would not be able to tell the difference between a Japanese BD source and an encoded release for anime, especially while in motion. You may be able to tell the difference in still frame by frame comparison but no one cares if a few pixels are off due to grain that would require an extra 4gb (waste of space and BLOAT) to fix.
Also CR video quality sucks compared to Japanese TV in most cases. Not all but a lot of cases this holds true. They also like to forget to decimate things and keep dupe frames in the video.
Oh and enjoy your WORDS
Are you sure it was the original Tekkaman blade and not Tekkaman Blade 2? Anyways, whatever, like I said, I just want to play the video and move on. There's no need to wait for the files to download. Besides, there's a chance I may not like the anime series. I'd be pretty pissed off if I spend time waiting for something to finish downloading only to find out that the content sucks balls, or I get a virus from the contents. I also get pissed when I download a episode, and it turns out the video is out of sync with the audio (for the life of me, I don't know why it does that sometime.). With streaming, all I have to do is watch it. If I like it, I'll watch another one, if not, I'll move on to the next one. Quality is the only thing I'm missing out on and I don't give a rats ass about that. Its not that big of a difference really.
