But man is a beast.

It is the apex predator of Earth. Not through strength, but through intelligence and adaptability. The nature has yet to breed a more prefect monster.

Adaptability is no longer the largest priority for man. It's more about being decent towards man's numerous numbers. Man is no longer considered a beast, because of his intelligence. The apex of most creatures are decent towards their own kind, thus how we've continued to thrive for so long.

Cowardly? True vicious self? Man is not beast.

But many of said creatures will erase competition nether the less. Young lions are eaten by old lions from time-to-time. In same fashion, humans continued to kill each other over either limited amount of resources or different ideas for afterlife. The well-being of another group of humans is not a priority for another group of humans either; else we wouldn't need "Millennium Development Goals", or negotiate climate agreements. But at the same time yes, man can also help each other, from altruism or pure egoism.

And man has also unique capacity to alter the environment. We can easily eradicate all other life on Earth and either leave it as such, or repopulate it. We can eradicate our own numbers, or adapt our society to them.

Man is not principally evil, but he is far from kind~

Altruism exists in man, it is known.

All roads for existence lead to destruction and ruin. Decency is to know which path will lead to the easiest and slowest destruction.
