Ain't as fit as before, I see. I used to be able to do past hundred during the time when I still diligently practiced pencak silat.
They shouldn't do any more than they can handle unless they fancy hurting themselves badly.
Pro-tip: It's best to push yourself close to your limits for the first set so you can rip as much of your muscle as possible, then you should work yourself down in the next sets to tone it. Even if it means you end up doing much less in the next sets than the first this is the best way to build strength.
