Does rep even matter anymore?

i mean after the free books went away we don't have the big base community were others can rate comments... so does rep matter? or has this site done a complete 180?

It never really mattered in the first place as there was never a perk/penalty for having Reputation.
It did great as a "Good Job" Button for the Upload section in the past, but as long as there was a negative button besides that GJ button it's going to be arbitrary.
Most of the time it'll just make noobs and thin-skinned users rage and Cry when they get a negative.

It never mattered, except in the case of shinji, where we were trying to get him to the lowest possible rep.

Reputation isn't an accurate portrayal of someone's personal influence or of an article's quality, so it had no worth in the first place.
