Echo's Estate

Later referred to as the "Dark" age of technology. This was the period of mankinds peak technological capability. A number of major events occurred.
in the 18th millennium warp drive invented, though only small short jumps possible it greatly aided in further galactic colonization.
by the 22nd millenium discovery or creation of mutants known as Navigators. Using them allows for longer jumps across farther distances . As well as mutant navigators, psykers were first scientifically verified to exist, and they became more and more common the closer to the 25th millennium you got.

The creation of STCs or Standard Template Constructs. These were advanced, artificially intelligent computers which are said to have contained the sum total of human scientific and technological knowledge. These allowed for the construction of any and all technologies.

During this time it is said that mankind began worshiping science as its god.

The first alien races were encountered, Eldar and Orks. This of course soon led to the first xenos wars. However, at this point in time the Eldar basically ruled the galaxy and humanity soon accepted a non aggression pact with the them.

the "Men of Iron" as they are now called were also common in this era they are artificially intelligent robots.

Here mankind reached the end of its golden age thanks to a number of devastating galactic events.

The Men of Iron betrayed their creators and caused untold destruction on numerous worlds before they were finally wiped out.

The fall of the Eldar empire would bring about devastating consequences to the whole galaxy. The collective debauchery, decadence and hedonism of the Eldar empire gave birth to the chaos god Slannesh. Over the course of its gestation, it devoured the souls of the majority of the Eldar and created massive warp storms all across the warp. This caused many human worlds to be cut off from the rest of the galaxy, much like The Stellar Exodus.

The dangers of psykers were also spreading throughout mankind. Many worlds were decimated by demons that arrived because of possessed psykers

Thanks to all of these events and likely many more that are lost to history, Mankind turned on itself. Civil war and rampant anarchy were everywhere. Human worlds snuffed out by doomsday weapons of their own design. Even Earth itself was not saved from this chaotic period. By the 28th Millennium almost all traces of civilization on Earth were long gone; instead, techno-barbarians battled one another over the scraps of the ancient human civilization.

On Mars, the newly formed Cult Mechanicus and its Tech Priests defeated the psyker mutants seeking to control the planet and the Priests took control of Mars for themselves. The cult watched for any time they could get through the warp storms. Whenever they could they sent expeditions out to colonize more worlds, they would come to be known as Forge Worlds

One incredibly powerful psyker and leader sensed Slannesh's inevitable birth and sprung into action. This man had been guiding humanity as a multitude of different identities. He used all the technology at his disposal and through genetic engineering created the gene-seed blueprint and soon after the race of superhumans known now as Space Marines. With his new military strength, this psyker leader conquered Earth and its moon. Afterwards he made a alliance with the Tech Priests of Mars. With the immediate area secured this man was determined to unify all of man kind under his rule, he then declared himself to all humanity as The Emperor of Mankind.

After Slannesh's birth at the end of the 29th millennium The warp storms subsided and calm came over the warp once more. The Eldar empire and its people were broken, scattered and in ruins. And the new conqueror of earth was about to embark on a great crusade. Thus, ended The Age of Strife.

The Emperor's galactic unification began perfectly. Using his ultimate commanders known as Primarchs, immensely powerful beings crafted from both The Emperor's own genetic code as well as the gene-seed he created. One world after the next became part of The Imperium of Man. And then a horrible tragedy struck, in a terrible train of events that would lead to the creation of the Chaos Space Marines the Horus Heresy was upon them. A interstellar civil war in which The Emperor's own warmaster, the Primarch Horus, turned on him. It even transpired that Horus delivered a fatal blow to The Emperor. However, The Emperor did not truly die. His body was wrecked but his mind and spirit survived.

The Emperor's paralyzed body was entombed on earth, now called Terra. His psychic presence still permeating all of his Imperium.
Mankind now worships him as a god. Thanks to all of the horrors of The Age of Strife and The Horus Heresy any and all deviation from absolute faith in the God Emperor is met with death. Ruled over by the High Lords of Terra they enforce ignorance among the Imperium. Deeper knowledge of things outside your immediate need to know is strictly forbidden. This is done to prevent further heresy. Think of it like this with no word for "murder", "crime" or "adultery", you have no concept of the thing and as such it's very unlikely for one to engage in such activity. And so, with knowledge of the golden age of old completely lost to humanity we arrive at the grim darkness of the 41st Millennium.

Chapter 1

The white and black painted power armor seemed to almost glow as Faye looked at it. She had worn power armor in training but it never felt like it was hers. Now, she felt a sense of pride welling up in her that she was going to be a true battle sister. All of the equipment the Sororitas used were blessed by holy rituals, so perhaps it truly was glowing with the light of The Emperor. She donned the armor and picked up her bolter and combat knife. After wards she said a short prayer and was ready to depart.

Faye soon found her new sisters waiting at the launch bay. She took a moment to look over each of them. One was a girl with a very young looking face, she almost looked too young to be a full battle sister. Her hair was a light brown and pulled into short ponytail, hastily by the looks of it. The next was a woman who looked much older, but not terribly old be any standards. She gave off a motherly air about her. Her red hair was tied in a rather fancy bun. And the last, to round off the traditional squad size of five looked quite unhappy. She seemed to have a very no frills demeanor and her hair style reflected that. It was cut incredibly short almost so short you couldn't make out the darker brown color of it.

Noticing Faye, the squad comments on her own hair. "Oooh what pretty hair you have" the young looking one says with a girlish voice. "Its so long and golden." She walks up to Faye and asks "Can I touch it? Is it as soft as it looks?" Behind the cheery sister who sitll looked out of place, the redhead giggled and the serious one commented "You should cut that off. Such long hair is a liability in combat. It could easily be grabbed or tangled and lead to your death." Ignoring the giddy girl Faye responds with "I think it is important to show not only the fury of The Emperor but also his beauty. As we are his instruments it is for us to portary the glory and radiance of His Holy Majesty."

Instead of the fervent agreement that The Emperor was all things that Faye expected to hear the sisters looked at her like she had said something odd. Then from behind her a voice said "Beauty won't kill heretics and xenos" Faye turned to see the Sevestra approching, the black bob cut of her hair as sharp as her glare. Before Faye could respond to that the sister superior changed the subject "Allow me to introduce everyone. This is Annalyn" she pointed to the cheery girl with the youthful face. "Sarette" The super serious one, "And Titania" the redhead. "Everyone this is our new sister, Faye. If you couldn't already tell she is here straight from the convent on Terra as her first deployment."

This information brought three different reactions. Sarette appeared even more upset and mumbled something under her breath. Titania smiled gently and said in a soft voice "Oh my, well don't worry dear, Ill look out for you." Annalyn got a stunned looked as she says "So you mean you haven't killed any heretics yet? How sad." All Faye could think was how strange these women were. Moving things along Sevestra spoke "We have orders to deploy to the planet. Reports have came in of a uprsing of heretics and our company is in the best position to stop them. Upon landing we are going to meet up with the rest of the squads and head into the planetary capital."

Annalyn held up her flamer and excitedly says "Lets burn them all!" The smile on her face and how cheerfully she said such things Faye thought was a little disturbing. Titania spoke "Now now, calm down we cant just start killing everyone." Sarette added "We will have to determine the root of the heresy and how far it has spread." Then Sevestra finished the conversation with "We will assess the situation upon arrival, its time to go." With that the five of them head into the dropship to the planet.
