you can try them out at any currys/pc world stores
just don't let them talk you into buying any cables.

the ones that use hdmi will be £400+ plus you need to make sure the TV has a hdmi port labeled ARC

Not all HDMI ones are above £400 but I'm not fussed if they are. I want one with an HDMI input for my PS4.

i would go down that route as you will need to find a soundbar that has 2 hdmi port one for inputs and another to send the image to the TV and this could cause lag, you would be better to have the PS4 connected to the TV and the soundbar connect to the TV so the TV will output all sound to the soundbar

But you lose HD audio quality that way.

does the PS4 have any games that have HD audio

I was looking at the Sony early. Has mixed reviews.

if your phone can play high res audio, load some up and pop into your local currys store and play the music on them and see which one you like.

most soundbars will be 2.1 and most audio will be compressed down, but the 5.1 audio is less likely.

but anything over TV speaker will be a improvement.

plus don't let them talk you into buying ANY cables

nice unit but the down side is you need to buy the subwoofer separate for it and that is another £599
plus it has a glass top which will mean you will dust and fingerprints on it
