Well three of the characters are in a polyamory relationship and faeries can cause humans to be overwhelmed by emotion and what caused it was the death of their daughter (she comes back to life though-long story)
so the other faerie knowing the humans will become so lethargic and depressed over it they'll die, so she does the only thing she can really think of (cause she's kind of stoic and serious) faeries turn to sex for a lot of things.

Indeed, generally it just makes humans really horny, and more bisexual...cause the main character wasn't bisexual at first but when she met the faerie she really wanted to fuck her.
