See, I have always found it funny that those opposed to that idea want gender to be considered as a social construct. To some extent I think that is fair, but if that's what we are working with then that means that it is pretty much binary since that's the way that Western society views gender. Any attempt to introduce new genders is just a fringe subculture trying to alter social norms.
Or provide excuses.

In the same way I have always been somewhat loathe to agree with anyone that says "heteronormativity" needs to die. Sure it presupposes a lot and can lead to some bizzare thinking as I have learned talking to my less than sexually enlightened and quaintly racist grandfather, but at a very basic level assuming that heterosexuality is the norm is just a correct assumption. It -is- the statistical norm. I don't think it should necessarily be valued more greatly, but why try and rail against the Judeo- Christian value system that at least American culture is firmly based on?
The hell is "heteronormativity"?

Ahh okay. In Estonia, this transgender (or whatever) hasn't gotten much hold. Glad for that.
About your grandpa, he lived in a different time. He has seen some wars/conflicts probably and considers most of the gender crap to be pointless waste of time.
The thing about all the gay stuff is following:
I'm okay with gay people, because I occasionally like to watch lesbian carpet munching on pornhub. If i find lesbians to be tolerable (or downright hot, depends on the video), it would be wee bit asinine hating gays.
WHAT do pisses me off is the gay pride parades. Gay marriage and crap is legal now. Have fun in the bedroom, but why the flipping crap one must parade around city about his/sexual orientation? Do they try to push it as a norm? Most of the people do not give a damn about it anyway, they just want people to shut up about it.
I am not religious person so I don't know much about religious values.

I think trying to change a system and replace it with another is far too combatative an approach and doomed to failure and reprisal. Just deal with people on a personal level and realize that you will be subject to assumptions and don't get pissed. You'll find people willing to respect your wishes, but the norms are not obligated to shift.
It's basic human psychology. If we do not have any information, we try to gather it. If we see some traits that belong to certain group, we will assume he belongs into that group. The current norms have worked for ages, because its simple and it is based on biology. Got tits and vag, woman. You own a shaft and ballsack, man. There are those unfortunate ones though. On that, those people need time to think.
