@shane i like zr7, but i would say to sample them at a store before buying.

am thinking of the zr7 or bose solo 5 for the living room

zr7 sounds better than the Bose. Based on the specs.

it does, though i am hardly in the living so i wouldn't use it that much but it is smaller than the bose looks better.
both are similar cost.
sony has better reviews.

it can be done one the soundlink 300 but that cost £599 for the bar then another £599 for the sub then you can buy a rear speaker kit for another £249 for 2 speaker which will cost about £1500 .
but for that price i would get the samsung k950 which is a dolby atmos sound bar which consist of 5 speaker (front L/R, middle, Rear L/R) 1 Sub and 4 upwards firing speaker which are designed for the sound to bounce of the ceiling so you get sound around you and above you.
