It's been worse.

at the moment it is like -5°C and expected to go to about -10°C at night

-6 here, although not getting that cold here at night. Had worse last week for a bit, though.

might look at buying some blinds, to act as an extra layer from window to blinds to curtains, and that should help with retaining some more heat
