In the early parts of the game, reading books raised your personality stats; Charm, Knowledge, Guts, Kindness and Proficiency
Each had a certain role to play later on in the game.
I:E if your kindness was high enough, you couldn't pursue meganekko past a certain point etc etc

Once in new game+ your stats are already max, so you don't spend time reading books etc

Just grinding then.

I am sure Shane's is long... and I bet it grinds well xD

It does take some time to go through the whole game again though, but I don't need to spend time leveling up and I can just run through most of the dungeons straight to the end with very few fights
