ANYWAY.
Back to discussing girly things. Seriously.
So I've had the Mirena IUD in for a month now, and seriously, I love this thing. My period this month was a bit heavier than it was when I was on the pill, but there was less of the weird feelings before the period. Like, when I was on the pill (Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo), I would feel...pregnant, is the closest feeling I can describe it as. I'd feel bloated, tired, cranky, achy (especially in the boobs area) and I'd crave weird shit. This time around, it was smooth sailing. My period lasted 5 days instead of 3 like when I was on the pill, but the doc says it might become less heavy--or even disappear!--as time goes on. I am so looking forward to that.
My libido is less controlled by the IUD. On the pill, I know I had less cravings for sex, but off it, I'm horny all the time. I have yet to determine whether this is a good or bad thing. Sex-wise, I don't feel it in me at all, and neither does teh bf. There are times when I move and I think I feel it, but those moments are brief and are probably just my imagination. The only way I really feel it is when I tug a little on the string to check if it's still up there.
It really is a "set it and forget it" method of BC. The initial pain is nothing,
nothing compared to the incredible benefits that I get.
I hear you Jolly, but I'm still scared of it, lol. My friend got the copper one and she says the same things, but it gives me the chills. That's not rational, but I'm going with my gut on that one.
I've been on Yasmin for about a month and the only side effect I've had is the "always kinda hungry" one, which is pretty normal for me anyway, lol. And considering the bad side effects I had with the last pill I tried (the spotting, oh dear Lord the spotting ;~;), this one seems to work well. I haven't had my period yet, so I don't know how it's affected my flow, but I'll stick to it for at least another month to see if I get anything else (aka MOOD SWINGS RAAAAR).
For anyone who's using condoms as a birth control method, I would also like to give 4 stars to Durex Extra Sensitive. They're pretty damn close to bare-backing, if a little smoother, which is normal with condoms.
Although, I wouldn't recommend them for anything besides oral and vaginal. They might be a little too thin for....tighter places.
