That's the problem with the series as a whole, since the premise is that characters are going to get kicked out without any growth given to them. Or at least very little growth. That's why Nagito annoyed me, since he really didn't grow. He just rambled on and kept all the secrets to himself until after the 5th Chapter. Although the surprise of him being a nut-case was pretty cool xD
Well I forgive Kirigiri's Mary Sue-ness because she does have a flaw that is evident in Cases 4-6. Her unwillingness to cooperate and to open up is cause to have suspicion to be thrown on top of her. Even Makoto died that first case, that group wouldn't have gotten past the Second Class Trial. Not because the group wouldn't be able solve the crime but no one would able organize the group on a single objective.
Well I guess that's the point of Academy/Island Mode.
