I thought Hyouka did okay, but some episodes near the end had lost some of the show's effect and appeal to me. Still enjoyed its moments like the one above.

yes, suzumiya and hyouka both did good, or at least I remember enjoying them both. I always find myself more projecting on the male leads than having the hots for the different girls and both Kyon and Oreki were entertaining. Even in Oreimo Kyosuke was more interesting than his harem. But I digress. What are you referring to, the side-character's drama or the father's note they finally solved?
