Garfest 2010 Nominations

I have three characters I would like to submit for GARFest.

The first one is the man who generated the term GAR by himself. He really needs no introduction, but here he is, Archer from Fate/Stay Night.



My second choice really needs no introduction either, as the current champion of GAR, I have to nominate him. Guts from Berserk.



Last, and certainly not least, my third nomination. A character who is almost always short changed, but shone in Unlimited Blade Works by saving the day when all else was lost. An Irishman who's only wish was to have a good fight. Also, read the myth this guy is based off of and tell me that's not GAR. Here is Lancer from Fate/Stay Night.

I also Nominate The Puppet Man!(fallout 3/Penny Arcade)



The Puppet man shows virtually no GAR qualities up until he butchers most of the slavers in Paradise Falls, using only a sock puppet, and leaves the survivors scarred for life.

I will nominate Hei from Darker Than Black.

I just realized that FSN is just full of GAR and manly characters. I previously nominated Lancer and Archer, but I should be struck down if I did not nominate these two.

Kotomine Kirei and Emiya Kiritsugu from Fate/Stay Night and more importantly, Fate/Zero.



Kotomine is a priest who is empty except when he witnesses the suffering of others. He will go to any point to unleash all of the World's Evil upon the world just so he can watch the chaos. Not to mention he fought a Servant by himself and won and was once a hunter of Dead Apostles with the Church.

Kiritsugu was a magus killer for the Association and used magical guns. He also blew up stuff. He killed rouge mages as an ally of justice and knew all sorts of bad assed methods.

And for non Type-Moon stuff, I was surprised this guy wasn't nominated last year. Yes, he's utterly gorgeous, but Vampire Hunter D is rather bad assed and GAR in his own right.





And . . . for an unsung character in Berserk, the much beloved Judeo.

So yes, Lancer is as deserving as much love as the Father of GAR himself. (I love both characters so . . .) They're both bad assed, they're just DIFFERENT types of bad assed.
