I don't want to watch Madoka..seems girly...

You should Mills. That's what I thought at first too. Until I found it that Kalafina sang the ending and Yuki Kajiura composed the soundtrack for the anime. It was bound to have some dark elements in it and it was more darker than I thought. It's a great anime and people have misleading thoughts on it.
