kind of been an introvert for awhile, then I went to an animecon and met some people that make me feel happy. so i need advice.
so I went and bought a bunch of games so we can play 'em. but it's kinda weird since I really don't know how being a human being is like, y'know having common sense and the lot. to prepare I've been studying humens and their daily activities. like gay pride parades, and jersey shore. so interacting and socializing i think i can check off my list, but most of these things come naturally and stuff. so it should be alright as long as i dont murdur anyone or start preaching social justice. just gotta make dumb noises with my mouth and maybe self-decapitate. that usually works, right? im sure we'll get right onto friend-bonding and massage trains in no-time.
anyway, i imagine you people are obviously fun at parties. which is why i need your help.
they all weebs like me, but im kind of a filthy casual so yeah. but most of 'em are fans of naruto so they be really nice, matter of fact i think naruto fans are the nicest around. some can say they have shit taste, but hey good people. stopped watching after like halfway-through middle school. okay trailing off here, that doesnt matter. basically just telling you this so you can get a general idea of what im dealing with here.
down to the big question. what makes a good party host? a person like me has like zero charisma and cant carry this on my own. always need someone else to do the heavy lifting fig and lit if that makes sense. how do i entertain, really?
what do you guys do with buddies, sit around and play games all day? was thinking maybe we can huddle around the computer and watch anime, or like, have a water gun fight? idfk. summertime right. see, all i want are some good ideas on what a good get together would be like. what food i should bring out, if i should do it in morning or night, games that are really fun with a group'a buddies. stuff like that.
also take into account that i just met these guys like last month, almost.
put yourself in their shoes, and think. how would a girl you just met, give a good first impression?
Sometimes, we'd meet up during the day for some target shooting and sporting clays, chill out in the pool, bonfire.
And then a night of games. Settlers of Catan, Axis & Allies, Diplomacy tend to be the order of the day. For Axis & Allies, it usually devolves into just me and one of my best friends fighting to the bitter end in an insane trollfest, long after the others have quit.
Buy some snacks (pretzels, chips and dip, popcorn, cheese puffs, nachos and cheese, maybe some take out pizza or wings). Have booze (beer and some soda mixed drinks). Get your friends to pitch in some cash for both the food and drinks (mainly the booze or takeout orders made).
Play something multiplayer that everyone can enjoy like smash bros, mario party, mario kart racing, etc. if you don't have them ask someone to bring them or emulate them on a computer (hook computer up to TV using an hdmi cable).
Watch some anime or maybe some abridged anime.
Sing some nerdy karaoke songs if they're down.
Twister, darts, beer pong, and trivia always go over well too.
Don't over think hosting a party. You are just providing the place and just make sure everyone is having a good time. Just make sure your prepared for the mess cleaning the next day (out breakable shit away beforehand).
If alcohol is involved, drinking games are usually how we start off, Beer Pong, Boom, Quarters, tons of card games. Most video games can usually be turned into drinking games as well.
For food, chips and other such munchies are usually enough(we have a friend who works for a major chip company, so we always have a ridiculous amount of potato chips), sometimes we'll all pitch in for pizza.
Board games are usually fun, Cranium and Cards Against Humanity usually work really well for parties. Strategy games like Risk and the sort work too assuming people are willing to invest the time and focus required to play.
Wii/Wii-U are basically meant for parties. Mario Kart, Mario Party, and the like, and like I said earlier, they can all easily have drinking games incorporated with them.
Music always loosens people up too, lately we've just been passing around a piece of paper while we're hanging out and making a list of songs that we make a youtube or spotify playlist out of, usually makes for a really interesting mix of songs because we all listen to different stuff.
Slutty dancin'. Booze, but not too much, or slutty dancin becomes full out grinding against strangers of both sexes.
Unfortunately, I have almost zero IRL geek friends, so games are out of the questions, quiet evenings too. Clubbing is the only thing they'll agree to, and usually, they'll want everyone passed out drunk for maximum coolness.
Usually we end up with drinks (both alcoholic and non) and then play role playing games (Runequest is a personal favourite). Some comical events usually ensue when one of us would get drunk like once we decided to take down a troll by throwing our friend into it repeatability or once when we were low on money we got my girlfriends and I character to make NPC's pay to watch our characters have sex....that was when we were very drunk. Made for some good times and helped us bond a little thanks to the good times and now we do it on a regular basis. We'll also usually have snacks (chocolate, sandwiches, crisps, typical stuff).
Sometimes we'd watch Anime or regular movies and sometimes play some split-screen or LAN parties on consoles spread around whomever's we're at. Those are the safe, regular kind of things you should do with new people, also use the time to get to know what they like more, chances are you don't know much about them and the first time you spend with each-other you may not have fun since you don't know them that well (other than anime/manga stuff) to guess so you should use it as an experiment to gauge what they'd like to do as friends in a future scenario.
