Canadian SJW's are possibly the worse things to come from Canada. At least musicians/artist are easily ignorable if you avoid mainstream music talk/radio stations.
The underground music scene is flourishing. I don't know how many bands I've discovered who aren't signed to a record label and they kick ass. Henry Rollins said it best when he said "Music is alive and well....".

There is still good music you just need to look elsewhere for it besides the radio.
Like this band for example. Totally underground famous. Not famous because of a million youtube views but because of word of mouth and a shit ton of shows around the globe opening for other bands and playing low key gigs.
