Dexter marries Rita. They have a baby which is girl in the books but a boy in the series. She killed by the trinity killer which dexter kills in the beginning of that eps after he kills Rita, but Dexter didn't know.
I had to say that before the final season spoiler which Deb is killed and he left his son with his girlfriend which is a serial killer of sorts from season 5 and he sails his ship into a storm with Deb's body so he can start a new since he knows he can't be a father while being a killer. Which the last few mins he is a lumber dude living a new life.
I still haven't read the last book to see if the ending is good, but most of the characters are different in the book then tv. Sgt. Doakes is alive but a mute stumpy.
Wow, that's... pretty tragic, and actually most unexpected.
But, that's what I like about this - I never know what's going to happen, it just makes me want to watch more ^_^.
tl;dr rant
I can more or less predict most anime endings now, based on the first couple of episodes.
It gets boring when there aren't any surprises, and a good season won't probably come again for a while, because now a lot of people put whatever used to make barely passing marks for plot in the 'good' category, and things that are actually good, are now being called 'masterpieces'...
People are being satisfied with 'just okay' and so we're getting more 'okay' anime and a lot less 'good anime'...
Though the same can be said for television series in america, I guess - people have become so lazy that whatever is 'decent' is suddenly the 'movie of the year'.
Maybe that's why the ones that are actually good stand out so much to me, because I'm so used to the same stupid bullshit over, and over, and over.
