Pence's opinion on anything genuinely don't matter. If he's going to be an idiot and waste money on something that not only doesn't help anyone but actively makes him seem backwards, that's on him. I do feel sorry for any impressionable youths forced into this sort of therapy but I feel like their civil liberties being in danger is a more pressing concern. That among a thousand other things.

It all really depends on how much of an input Pence will really have as a VP. Traditionally, the Veep doesn't really do shit, except occasionally break tie-votes in the Senate (which are rare) and generally being available in case the POTUS croaks. Other than that, as long as the Veep doesn't say or do anything to make the Prez look bad, he's doing a good job. Considering the Prez being Trump... I suppose there's not much Pence could say or do to make him look bad.

Then again, it's generally been understood that George W. Bush's VP, Dick Cheney, had an inordinate amount of pull in Bush's administration. And if rumors are true about how Trump was selecting running-mates, it's possible that Pence might be another "hands-on" VP in Trump's White House. It remains to be seen.

Still, you have to realize that public opinion matters a lot, and that no matter how much power the GOP holds, 55% of Americans still support gay marriage (with 37% who oppose it), around 60% support legalizing marijuana (about 5 states actually passed laws to legalize recreational use in this election), 70% still support the decision of Roe v. Wade (only 24% say they would overturn it), and around 90% support expanded background checks for gun purchases.

Murders occurring via armed burglary occur occasionally here and are a real threat, well, to most people. I'll probably be okay unless someone tosses grenades through my windows or has a god damn rocket launcher. Yes, it's loaded and the safety is always off, but it's also barrel-side down so it's highly unlikely I'll trip on it and blow my own brains out by mistake. Also means that when I grab and lift it, the barrel end will be pointing at the intended targets instead of myself.
