Yeah, the only major difference is that there haven't been any cases of
mass death from chickenpox. Also, it's smallpox and chickenpox, not small pox or chicken pox.
The only issue with chickenpox is that once you get it will always remain in your nervous system. Later in life this can develop into herpes zoster (also known as shingles). There is no cure for shingles when the virus mutates into this.
We give out vaccinations for chickenpox to prevent any of this happening. Doesn't necessary mean that you can't ever get shingles, just reduces your chances significantly.
