It was the largest repository of Hentai/Artbooks/Parody/Artist Galleries on the entire internet. 471,796 as I type this. Vast amounts was parody which will NEVER be published anywhere because it's not legal in the first place. Neither will out of print/old/rare doujins or fan art books. Like bcfirestar said, it didn't operate for profit and cooperated with publishers to remove licensed content, like Fakku.

If you really think this is a good thing you have no brain in that skull of yours. Do you understand how any of this works? Do you think anyone would buy Doujins (especially parody) if these sites didn't exist? How do you think foreign audiences are even introduced to this shit in the first place? There is NO reach here for that kind of material. Scans actively help out the authors by introducing people to them. I own dozens of physical doujins purely because I read them online first and liked them. More then that, some people actually want to READ them. How do you expect them to do that without translation groups?

I somewhat agree on the exposure, heck it's how I know some of the artist I know today (before I officially joined Fakku!).

I also have some works I liked that I bought... But most of the people who use those type of sites never ever would spend a single coin while it being "free" for them to view so easily.

But if I read that correctly it's "okay" if it's stuff that probably won't see the day of light? Idk man.

The only reason piracy may help exposure is because of the limited amount of legal hentai. I'm a 100% on the Gabenwagon that piracy is a service issue. If you can expand the library and improve the search engine then this would be a moot argument.

If that was true then steam titles wouldn't be easily found on p2p sites. Piracy is 20% lack of legal routes and 30% lack of funds for what you want. The other 50% is a mix of privileged thinking, laziness and curiosity.

Being a pirate myself before fakku and sadpanda existed( I'm that old, fuck you) I was trading VHS and photocopies doujins before most of you where a speck of nut butter in your mother's teeth. I grew up in the bad times. BBS, vcds, bootleg VHS with cc machine fan subs. Back when a vol of an anime was 29.95 in 90's dollars. When ranma 1/2 was hundo a season. My early collection was 6 gen VHS, vcd (think dvd but on a cd) and 144p avi. So we lacked the funds to just watch anything.

Shit never changed just the ways went to full digital and that made the pirate life easier. I never thought it was free though. Someone paid for it.

Support it=/=can't be a pirate. I still watch stuff for free on my part but like back then if I liked it I got it. The storage tub full of doujins is proof of that. My three bookshelves of manga and so many dvd and bd too. I can't afford it all but I still buy the good stuff. Half my stuff was because of privacy.

If I deem it fairly priced then I will always buy it on steam before pirating. I agree that curiosity could lead you to not want to pay full price for something that you might like. But Steam in this case has a refund system.
